Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a traditional Japanese therapy, where techniques such as acupressure, massage and stretching is applied to the whole body. This style of treatment works on the meridians (energy pathways) that are found all over the body and focuses on not only treating the main symptom but balancing out the whole body.
Shiatsu is conducted on a futon and patients can remain clothed ensuring clothes are loose and comfortable.
Patients will experience a treatment that can vary between gentle, medium and sometimes deep pressure but will experience sensations of great release at the same time.
Acupressure
Acupressure is another form of massage similar to the western style of trigger point therapy, except the points used are Traditional Chinese acupuncture points.
The difference between using acupuncture points as opposed to trigger points is that the patient will experience a much different sensation and the points can also be used instead of needles to treat certain conditions.
The pressure on acupuncture points is aimed at releasing the stagnate energy sitting in the meridians or muscles often experienced by people as knots or areas of tension.
Acupressure is a deeper style of treatment but with an experienced practitioner the pressure can be carefully applied and varied depending on the persons pain threshold, making it a very relieving and effective style of treatment leaving you feeling the results straight away.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the use of fine needles inserted into specific points found all over the body.
After a thorough diagnosis normally taking 30 minutes, specific points are chosen to not only treat the symptom but to also treat the cause of the condition.
The needles are inserted very superficially in energy pathways known as meridians, where either the energy is stagnate or deficient.
The aim is to create balance in these energy pathways which then in turn leaves the body working at optimal health.
In western medicine it is the belief that the body releases endorphins where the needles are inserted, therefore increasing the healing rate.
Traditional Chinese Medicine has been around for thousands of years and was originally used to maintain good health by keeping the immune system strong and thus in turn
supporting longevity. As years past, the use of Acupuncture was no longer used as a preventative but also as a tool to treat many conditions.
And today in society, westerners are experiencing and opting for a more natural and drug free way to help relieve symptoms and to heal certain conditions. With more awareness and education people understand that it is just as important to maintain their health through using eastern therapies and acupuncture rather then just treating immediate symptoms.
